What is Bikram Yoga?
Bikram Yoga consists of twenty six postures and two breathing exercises.
The postures are arranged in a logical sequence allowing the body to adjust
from one posture to the next. It works to strengthen muscles,ligaments and
joints. Bikram Yoga works the organs, glands and nervous system right down
to cellular level. Physically it cultivates strength, flexibility and
balance. Mentally it trains the mind in self-control, determination,
improves concentration and builds patience.
Getting ready to take your first
Bikram Yoga class?
Bikram designed this class for beginners, so know that with a little
practice and experience you will feel right at home.
Things to remember:
Arrive
15 minutes early for your first class for registration and orientation
- Yoga mat*
- Large bath towel*
- Bottle of water*
- Dress in cool
comfortable clothes-such as sport bra,tank top, running shorts. Avoid
sweats, capri pants, heavy t-shirt. No shoes or socks
- Drink plenty of water
throughout the day so that you are well hydrated before coming to
class. Come on an empty stomach, wait at least two hours after a meal
before taking class.
